Virtus.Pro applied a reverse sweep to qualify for the ESL Pro League S18 playoffs

From start to finish, the series was heated and entertaining, as Team Liquid came close to winning 2-0. However, thanks to an amazing reverse sweep, the Russian squad awoke in terrific shape to secure playoff status.

The event took place at Inferno, Ancient, and Vertigo.

Inferno

It all started with Inferno, VP’s map choice, as Team Liquid stepped up to demonstrate incredible quality on this map. Liquid had a great T-side in the first half to take a 9-6 lead. Then, as the sides changed, things shifted slightly, and the rounds began to be divided. Finally, after 13 rounds, Team Liquid won 16-12 to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Ancient

The teams then moved to Ancient, Team Liquid’s map choice, where we witnessed a stunning back-and-forth encounter that could have gone either way. Team Liquid came out strong in the first half, winning 8-7 on their T side. Then, after switching sides, Team Liquid took a 14-10 lead on the scoreboard, giving them the confidence to finish the map. However, VP’s offense won the final six rounds to win the game 16-14 and tie the series 1-1.

Vertigo

Finally, Vertigo, the Decider Map, saw an outstanding performance by VP, who won by a score of 16-6.

The first half was fairly balanced, with VP taking a 9-6 partial advantage. However, unlike the first two maps, VP’s defence was outstanding in the second half, and after winning the first seven rounds in a row, they cruised to a 16-6 triumph. As a result, the Russian team has secured a spot in the ESL Pro League S18 playoffs.
