Diablo 4 Season 3: Season of the Construct brings the classes much closer together in terms of balance than prior seasons. In season 3, all five classes appear to be fairly good, so you shouldn’t be too concerned with which class is “best” unless you want to compete with your friends.

Blizzard’s isometric dungeon crawler has five classes: barbarian, necromancer, sorcerer, rogue, and druid. Each class has its own class mechanic and skill tree, which includes a range of spells. All of their playstyles are distinct, aided by Diablo 4’s intricate game of numbers, but which class is best for you?

Barbarian

Barbarians will always be either the best or worst class in the game (having extra weapon slots makes them extremely tough to balance), and in Diablo 4 season 3, they have firmly placed in the “best” group. There are a few builds that appear particularly promising for Barbarians in season 3, but the new Charge build stands out, with Blizzard developers admitting in a recent live stream that they likely overbuffed the ability. Barbarians are already starting the season strong thanks to the Diablo 4 season 2 midseason patch, and the season 3 patch only makes them better and faster. It’s a risky combo that should ensure Barbarian players are truly living their finest lives in Season of the Construct.

Necromancer

Necromancers face the same fate as Druids. It’s not that anything they have is horrible — on the contrary, Necromancers appear to be able to annihilate adversaries with Bone Spear — it’s just that there isn’t anything new. Necromancers are slow, powerful casters who are difficult to defeat and do some of the most damage in the game. However, with limited mobility in a season including an activity that promotes safe movement (The Vault), the Necro may be more difficult to play in Diablo 4 season 3 activities. The only other drawbacks for the Necro are that summoning builds is still not feasible in the endgame, and they’ve been using the same major skills since launch.

Sorcerer

Sorcerers are losing their best build from Diablo 4 season 2 — Ball Lightning — in season 3 (it was mostly strong because of a bug Blizzard has finally solved). However, Sorcerers are still looking very good in Season of the Construct. First, they’re a highly mobile class, which should help them avoid traps in The Vault activity. Second, they’ve gotten some new, interesting Unique items and buffs to builds like Hydra and Meteor. Even Ball Lightning — while not as powerful as it was in season 2 — is still looking viable. Sorcs have had a real glow-up in the past four or five months and are in a really promising spot.

Rogue

This season, rogues are focused more on their ranged abilities rather than melee combat. This should be a nice change for those who dislike the Twisting Blades build or are tired of being so close to foes while playing D4’s sneakiest class. However, ranged play requires a more complex rotation of skills and a more difficult playstyle, so be prepared for this going in. On the plus side, Rogues have a plethora of viable builds this season, so you should be able to find something very good that catches your eye.

Druid

Druids have some potentially very powerful setups coming up in season 3, with new Unique items boosting Lightning Storm to an extremely fascinating place. Druids have always been good, and the only reason I placed them last in Diablo 4 season 3 is that they lack as much new, exciting content as the other classes. They’re still as good as before, but other classes have improved. If you were wanting to get your Druid on this season, don’t worry: you’ll still be able to destroy armies of opponents while being extremely healthy.

What is The Best Class For Solo Players?

The Rogue is undoubtedly the finest single class for competent players wishing to progress through the game, even if you’ll need to work harder in the endgame to compete with Barbarians.

As a Rogue, you are extremely mobile, and stealthy, and can fight from both range and melee. You are also the most adaptable class, with a wide range of setups. You are often killed, making your class difficult to learn, but with skill, you can take on an army of monsters on your own without slowing down.

Of course, like with the “Which class is best for you” portion, there is no correct answer. All five classes may be played solo, and Diablo 4 has no support classes, only support builds.
