Valorant: Sentinels include Marved in Replacement of TenZ for VCT Split

Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen is officially a starter for Sentinels Valorant, which should come as no surprise given his performance last week.
According to an update from the team’s head coach, Adam “Kaplan” Kaplan, Marved will play out the remainder of the VCT Americas split.
Sentinels Includes Marved Starting LineUp for VCT Splits
Tyson “TenZ” Ngo was confirmed to be the player that would make way for Marved in the starting lineup.
“After the weekend’s results, as well as a good conversation with TenZ, we’ve decided to start Marved for the rest of the league split,” Kaplan said in the announcement video.
He went on to say of their new starter, “he’s looking sharp as ever, so we’re confident we can pick up right where we left off.”
He mentioned the season being extremely short and punishing as the reason that decisions in the best interests of the squad needed to be taken right now.
The 21-year-old stepped down last week for a variety of reasons, including the need to recover from COVID-19 and a left index finger injury sustained in the Sentinels’ loss to Leviatán. Furthermore, his fiance was recently diagnosed with cancer, which no doubt weighs on him.
This appears to have evolved into a longer-term strategy.
Despite the promotion of the ex-OpTic star to the starting lineup, Kaplan emphasized that TenZ is “not going anywhere.” It’s unclear whether this indicates they’ll try to work him back into the lineup.
This weekend, the boys in red will face a fiery-looking Cloud9, and if they can defeat their blue rivals, it will be a big turnaround for their season thus far.
After briefly filling in, Marved’s more permanent move came on the heels of a 1-1 Super Week, which Kaplan praised. Defeating MIBR and forcing a final versus LOUD was “exactly what [the team] needed” after only two and a half days of practice.
