Jujutsu Kaisen: Makers are Planning To End Series with a Banger
By: Mukesh Chaudhary|| Feb 12, 2024
Jujutsu Kaisen is eager to end its series on a high note, gathering the strongest warriors in a battle against Sukuna, the king of curses. Yuta Okkotsu, a Jujutsu Tech student who starred in the shonen franchise’s first film and recently appeared in the anime adaptation’s second season, is one of Yuji Itadori’s most important allies. Now, keen-eyed anime fans have discovered what appears to be a link between Jujutsu Tech and another prominent anime franchise.
Yuta Okkotsu may not be sharing his body with a cursed spirit, but the sorcerer has grown strong enough to face Yuji Itadori. As anime fans saw in the first film in the Shonen trilogy, Yuta’s cursed power first manifested itself in a horrific way, resurrecting the love of his life in a macabre manner.
Rika, Yuta’s love who has been converted into one of the most terrifying creatures in the supernatural series, has undergone some modifications during the series but remains as powerful as ever in the final battle. Creator Gege Akutami has never been shy about taking major players off the board, leaving fans to wonder if Yuta and Rika will make it out alive.
Jujutsu Kaisen Story So Far
“Jujutsu Kaisen” is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Gege Akutami. The story follows high school student Yuji Itadori as he joins a secret organization of Jujutsu Sorcerers to eliminate a powerful Curse named Ryomen Sukuna, of whom Yuji becomes the host.
The series is set in a world where all living beings emanate energy called Cursed Energy, which arises from negative emotions that naturally flow throughout the body. Ordinary people cannot control this flow in their bodies, resulting in the birth of Curses, a race of spiritual beings whose primary desire is to bring harm to humanity.
The story begins with Yuji Itadori, a high school student who is reluctantly pulled into this world after swallowing a powerful cursed object, the “Sukuna’s Finger.” This object contains the essence of a powerful and ancient cursed spirit, Sukuna, who Yuji eventually merges with to gain immense power.
The series has been serialized in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump since March 2018, with its chapters collected and published in 25 tankōbon volumes as of January 2024. The anime adaptation of the series, produced by MAPPA, aired from October 2020 to December 2023.
The series has been broken into many different story arcs. Here’s a brief overview of the story arcs so far.
- Year 65: Before the Beginning: Before Ryomen Sukuna became a cursed spirit, he was a human sorcerer. According to legend, he was known as the Imaginary Demon during the Golden Age of Jujutsu 1000 years ago for killing hundreds of other powerful sorcerers.
- Years 710-784: The Nara Period: This is when Master Tengen first created the Jujutsu Society to establish a system to preach Jujutsu’s moral foundation and protect the non-sorcerers.
- Years 1989-2019: The Heisiei Period: This period includes the birth of Satoru Gojo, the birth of Geto Suguru, the birth of Megumi Fushiguro, the birth of Yuji Itadori, and other significant events.
- 2018: This year includes Yuji Itadori’s entrance into the Jujutsu High, the Shibuya Incident, Yuta’s Return, and other significant events.
Can Yuta Defeat Sukuna?
Some anime fans have noticed parallels between Yuta Okkotsu’s domain expansion and the “Unlimited Blade Works” from Fate/Stay Night. “True Mutual Love” is Yuta’s ultimate strike, and the sorcerer hopes it will be enough to allow him and Yuji the opportunity to defeat Sukuna once and for all. As we saw in the series King of the Curses, this endeavor will be far from easy.
Yuta Okkotsu made his long-awaited comeback to the anime adaption in Jujutsu Kaisen’s second season finale. Taking on the role of Yuji Itadori’s executioner, the third season will not only give Yuta more screen time, but will also introduce the Culling Game. The upcoming arc will have a group of cursed energy-wielders battling for domination as Yuji flees both his foes and erstwhile comrades.
You can easily proclaim that Yuta's Domain is a direct reference of ‘Unlimited Blade Works’ from ‘FATE’ series

The anime‘s third season, based on the manga’s Culling Game storyline, has been officially greenlit. It is slated to premiere in 2025.
