Fortnite Teased New Ranked Mode Like Valorant
By: Hypron || May 14, 2023
For days, there had been rumors that Epic Games was intending to offer a new way to play the game’s ranked mode, but no one expected the actual announcement. The Arena mode will be deleted on Tuesday, May 13, and replaced with a new system, according to the official Fortnite Twitter account.
The announcement was unexpected this morning, with the new Fortnite ranking system, which applies to Battle Royale and Zero Build, as simple as a toggle in the main lobby before starting a match. To commemorate this significant milestone in the game, players will be able to earn free cosmetics beginning with the 24.40 updates on May 14.

Fortnite New Ranked Battle Royal
The teaser for the alleged ranked mode was quick and didn’t provide much in terms of details, but if you’ve dabbled in ranked modes in previous games, it’s not too far-fetched to assume that’s exactly what this teaser is referring to. We find eight different symbols, which appear to be associated with the Bronze, Silver, Gold, (perhaps) Platinum, and Diamond grades.
There are three more after that, although the names of those rankings vary from game to game; still, no matter what game you’re playing, those ranks are where the best of the best play, including streamers, professional gamers, and others.
It’s also worth noting that the Fortnite Competitive Twitter account, which offers information about the game’s competitive aspect distinct from the public battle royale experience, responded to the message with a knowing emoji.
The pros and other high-level gamers are undoubtedly delighted about this, but it raises concerns about how Epic Games’ Fortnite ranked mode will function. How will it weight placements versus in-game factors like a player’s kill count? Other games, such as Apex Legends, are currently iterating on their systems to discover what works best as studios attempt to limit ways players may abuse the system, such as “ratting” in matches to rank up without communicating with others. Fortnite’s rated environment will almost certainly see its own fierce ups and downs, though gamers will have to wait until later to judge the initial release.

It *might* be released within the next 5 months, and seems to offer 18 divisions with player rankings.

Out of left field, there’s even suspicion that this ranking environment could be linked to some type of racing mode. That was recently hinted at by Fortnite insiders, along with a rumored ranking system, but it’s unclear if today’s official teaser is related to that rumor.
