The OnePlus Open is a foldable smartphone that offers a sleek design, a large and vibrant display, and a powerful performance. It is one of the first foldable phones to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series, and it does so with a lower price and some unique features.

The design of the OnePlus Open is elegant and premium, with a ceramic guard glass front, a vegan leather back, and a metal frame. The phone is also IPX4-rated for splash resistance, which is rare for foldable phones. The hinge mechanism is smooth and durable, allowing the phone to open and close easily. The phone feels comfortable to hold and use, both in the closed and open modes.

Oneplus Open Display

The display of the OnePlus Open is impressive, both inside and out. The cover display is a 6.31-inch LTPO3 OLED with a 20:9 aspect ratio, a dynamic 120Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Vision support. The internal display is a 7.82-inch LTPO3 OLED with a 1.076:1 aspect ratio, a dynamic 120Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Vision support. Both displays have 10-bit color depth, high brightness, and sharp resolution. The internal display also has a minimal crease that is barely noticeable. The display quality is excellent for browsing, gaming, and multitasking, but not ideal for watching videos or reading books due to the aspect ratio and the punch-hole cameras.

Camera

The cameras of the OnePlus Open are another highlight of the phone. The phone has three Hasselblad-enhanced cameras on the back: a 48MP main camera with a new Sony sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS), a 64MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and 6x in-sensor zoom and OIS, and a 48MP ultra-wide camera with macro mode. The cameras produce detailed, colorful, and dynamic photos in various lighting conditions, and can also record super-stable 1080p videos. The phone also has two front-facing cameras: a 32MP camera on the cover display and a 20MP camera on the internal display. The selfie cameras are average in quality, but sufficient for video calls and casual selfies.

Performance

The performance of the OnePlus Open is fast and smooth, thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of UFS4 storage. The phone can handle any task or app with ease, and also supports 5G connectivity. The software of the phone is OxygenOS 13.2, based on Android 12. The software is clean, intuitive, and optimized for the foldable experience. It offers various features such as split-screen mode, floating window mode, app continuity, adaptive brightness, gesture navigation, and more.

Battery

The battery life of the OnePlus Open is decent, but not outstanding. The phone has a 4805mAh battery that can last for a day of moderate use but may need to be charged more often if you use the internal display extensively or play demanding games. The phone supports fast charging with the included 67W charger that can charge the phone from 0% to 100% in about an hour.

Oneplus Open Price

The OnePlus Open’s price varies based on the market. According to web search results, the OnePlus Open will cost around (Rs 1,39,999) in India, while it will cost around $1,700 (around Rs 1,41,300) in the United States. The OnePlus Open is rumored to be less expensive than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, which is presently available in India for Rs 1,54,999. The OnePlus Open will be available for pre-order on October 19th and will go on sale in India on October 27th.
