Samsung Galaxy S24- The New AI Phone, Is it Worth the Hype?

If you want more compact flagship phones, there aren’t many good options available today; the iPhone 15 and Google Pixel 8 come to mind, as does Asus’ pint-sized Zenfone 10. However, one of the most obvious options recently received a long-awaited improvement with the release of the Samsung Galaxy S24.
Design and Display
At first sight, the design appears to have not changed much. The chassis keeps its rectangular shape. However, it employs a new One-Mass design language that replaces the polished, rounded metal frame of the S23 with a more squared, textured Armour Aluminium frame. The Samsung Galaxy S24 has a bigger display than the Galaxy S23 series1. It has the slimmest bezels yet on a Galaxy phone.
Performance and Battery
The hardware hasn’t changed much from the year before, but with a better chip and more storage in most cases, the value of upgrading is not entirely concentrated in the software. The Samsung Galaxy S24 runs One UI 6.1 is based on Android 14 and packs 256GB and 512GB of inbuilt storage. The Samsung Galaxy S24 is a dual-SIM (GSM and GSM) mobile that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM cards. The Samsung Galaxy S24 measures 147.00 x 70.60 x 7.60mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 168.00 grams. It was launched in Amber Yellow, Cobalt Violet, Marble Gray, and Onyx Black colors. It features an IP68 rating for dust and water protection. The Samsung Galaxy S24 runs Android 14 and is powered by a 4000mAh non-removable battery. The Samsung Galaxy S24 supports wireless charging, as well as proprietary fast charging.
Camera & Connectivity
The Samsung Galaxy S24’s rear camera configuration includes a 50-megapixel (f/1.8) primary camera, a 12-megapixel (f/2.2) camera, and a 10-megapixel (f/2.4) camera. It includes a single front camera system for selfies, with a 12-megapixel sensor.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 supports Wi-Fi 802.11 axe, GPS, Bluetooth v5.30, NFC, USB Type-C, Wi-Fi Direct, 3G, 4G (with support for Band 40, which is utilized by some LTE networks in India), and 5G with active 4G on both SIM cards. The phone has several sensors, including an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, compass/magnetometer, gyroscope, in-display fingerprint sensor, proximity sensor, and fingerprint sensor.
Price & AI Feature
The majority of the S24’s new features are AI-based. Samsung demonstrated specific instances of AI-assisted technologies that appear to be useful, such as real-time translation in voice conversations, generative fill when uncropping photographs, and Chat Assist, which suggests alternate phrasing for a message in a variety of tones. As of 19th January 2024, the Samsung Galaxy S24 price in India starts at Rs. 79,999.
However, it is worth noting that there are no significant camera enhancements, and the base model has limited RAM and storage1. Despite these, the Samsung Galaxy S24 has built a strong case for itself as one of the greatest phones available, thanks to its numerous Galaxy AI-powered productivity, photography, and entertainment capabilities, as well as a lengthy update schedule.
