T1, a well-known Korean esports organization, has released the VALORANT Champions Tour 2023 starting lineup. The addition of the remaining two players has cemented their starting five after disclosing and keeping three players earlier in the year. The most notable example is the return to the Pacific scene of former T1 player Ha “Sayaplayer” Jung-woo, who spent some time playing in North America. As required by league rules, T1 has not yet revealed their sixth player, a replacement.

The roster saw some big adjustments after returning to the organization’s home country of Korea from the NA circuit. Star Korean player Son “xeta” Seon-ho and Korean head coach Yoon “Autumn” Eu-team were both acquired after a trade with Cloud9. Both were successful on Cloud9; most notably, the 2021 NA Last Chance Qualifiers champion qualified for that year’s Champions.

Soon after, Byeon “Munchkin” Sang-beom, a former Crazy Raccoon player, added another Korean to the squad. This was done prior to the announcement of franchising and only strengthened the notion that T1 will return to the Korean VALORANT scene. Three months later, American player Joseph “ban” Seungmin Oh joined the team following a transfer from the NA team Knights. This ended up being the lone player from outside T1’s region that the team signed; the league only permits one import signing per team due to T1’s acquisition of their spot in the Pacific region.

Sayaplayer and BeomJun are the two most recent additions to the starting lineup. After a difficult time on T1 in Korea, Sayaplayer made a name for himself in 2022, joining the NA team The Guard. He was quickly moved into a duelist role that suited him well, and he helped The Guard win the Stage 1 Challengers championship. Despite his subsequent struggles, he demonstrated that he was capable of competing with the best in the world. Now he returns to T1 and his home country of South Korea to compete against the best. BeomJun, on the other hand, joins T1 with something to prove, rather than a long history like some of his teammates.

Now it’s up to this roster of Korean stars with NA experience and local talent to make their mark on T1 starting in 2023.
