MrBeast Faces Backlash Over Lamborghini Stunt In Viral Video: ‘Unforgivable, Moronic’

MrBeast, who has a massive following of 182 million on YouTube, is not immune to criticism despite his philanthropic acts such as planting 20 million trees, removing 30 million pounds of plastic from the ocean, and donating millions of dollars to charity. While some of his choices have been widely applauded, not all have been well-received.

In a recent video, he detonated a large amount of explosives and pushed a Lamborghini into what is claimed to be the world’s biggest shredder, which has sparked some controversy.

How Audience Reacted to MrBeast Lamborghini Stunt

“What do you think about the new MrBeast video?” one Reddit user questioned in the r/Anticonsumption sub-Reddit, which embraces consumer culture critique. “How do you feel about him exploding 110 grand in explosives and causing pollution?” “There’s also the [Lamborghini] shredding.”

One Redditor commented on the explosives prank, saying, “I’m not really worried about the pollution one guy makes for YouTube videos, considering the charity and nice things he does for people.”

It’s unclear whether the pollution caused by the explosions was very bothersome, or whether the value was what the commenter estimated.

According to the United Nations Environment Programme, explosions cause environmental harm in the form of debris, wastewater contamination, and dangerous compounds released when buildings are impacted, such as asbestos, industrial chemicals, and fuels.

The cloud of smoke would have affected air quality in this situation, as would previous explosions, but it was likely small and wasn’t in an open location, so it may not have been a major worry.

However, other commenters were offended by the Lamborghini stunt.

“Please tell me they didn’t shred a Lamborghini,” one person expressed his concern. “Unforgivable, moronic.”

While MrBeast made it obvious that the Lamborghini had been deactivated, there were still a number of parts that could have been recycled rather than destroyed.

According to one Redditor, while the move was perhaps a touch dumb, it was nothing in the larger scheme of things.

“At the end, the Lamborghini was broken.” Is it a waste? “Sure,” they replied. “However, the actions of a YouTube channel pale in comparison to corporate institutional waste.”

While MrBeast has done many excellent things for people and the environment, it serves as a reminder that being aware of the implications of your actions is never a bad thing.
