Vitality Beats FPX with Comeback Win in Flashpoint 3

Despite a rocky start to the year, the Flashpoint Three case, and this season, Vitality’s CS: GO team avoided catastrophe today with a 2-1 win over FunPlus Phoenix.
Vitality suffered a comeback in the first map of the series on Dust II. Despite a solid performance from Kévin “misutaaa” Rabier and a 10-5 lead at halftime, FPX’s CT-side edged Vitality’s map select 16-13.

Cédric “next to the back of his body” Guipouy had been knocked down to the lower arm by their DBL PONEY compatriots during the opener round, but they showed growth in the winning against OG and FunPlus Phenix in the lower bracket to remain in contention in the RMR tournament, which will be next face. Vitality, who has sometimes struggled to take shape since they signed Jayson “Kyojin”.

Martin Styk has four kills awarded the first round of the series to FunPlus Phoenix, who began Dust2 on the offensive side, but Vitality struck right back in a back-and-forth that went 4-2 in favor of the European team, but then Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut and his teammates took nearly full charge, winning eight of the final nine rounds to lead 10-5 at the break. The second half turned out to be a one-sided affair as FunPlus Phoenix fired on all cylinders, with every player contributing to a 16-13 victory.

On the attacking side of Inferno, FunPlus Phoenix took a 3-0 lead, but Vitality fought back, linking four of their own before STYKO tied things up with an ace, propelling his team to a 9-6 halftime lead. In the second pistol round, FunPlus Phoenix retook a 2vs2 afterplant to reach double digits, but Vitality fought back, led by apEX on the scoreboard, and didn’t let go until they crossed the finish line, 16-12, forcing a decider chart.

The third map, Vertigo, started out tight, but Vitality held firm on defense, taking a 7-3 lead after ten rounds before Jesse “zehN” Linjala was able to outmaneuver apEX in a 1vs1 clutch situation. The two teams then exchanged rounds back and forth, with the French team winning 9-6. Vitality took the second pistol round and swept through the terrorists, with ZywOo leading the way to a strong 16-10 win that enabled the French team to progress through the lower bracket.
