On Day 2 of the VCT Stage 2 Masters, North America reigned supreme after Version1 defeated Team Liquid and Sentinels defeated Fnatic in the Upper Bracket.

For nearly a year, professional athletes and fans have debated which region is superior — and now we have an answer. After stellar performances, both North American squads appear to be the two best teams in the competition.

The first game of the series on Icebox was extremely close, with Fnatic winning five of the final seven rounds. However, the Sentinels would eventually win 13-11. ShahZaM exploited Jett’s knives to score a win for his team while on eco in one incredible third-round move. The IGL drove aggressively towards Fnatic, his blades battling their Spectres. After taking out an airborne Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev, ShahZaM went on to take out two more before collapsing. However, his performance would shift the round in the Sentinels’ favor, making it a simple four-vs-two.

Sentinels’ in-game leader Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan and star fragger Tyson “TenZ” Ngo led the charge. TenZ finished the game with 25 frags, followed by ShahZaM’s 31 kills.

The second map would be as accurate. However, TenZ’s outstanding Jett play won the game 13-10. TenZ used a Marshal to headshot four Fnatic players to save the day in a key round. This was crucial since Fnatic had established their footing on defense. TenZ, on the other hand, took the wind out of their sails and accumulated 24 frags.

While North America had a strong showing today, there are still plenty of matches left in Masters Two. EU faces a rough route in the lower bracket, but they can still get to the grand final on Sunday.
