Valorant: Riot Games Removes 'Breeze' From VCT Masters Reykjavík Due To Competition Integrity

Riot Games have excluded the Valorant’s new map Breeze from their VCT Masters tournament. Breeze will not be played at Masters Reykjavik, according to the VALORANT Champions Tour Twitter account, in the “interest of competitive integrity.” Riot debated the new map’s inclusion in the rotation with pro players before deciding to delete it.

“Given the overlap with the Challenger Playoffs and travel to Iceland, 4 weeks is insufficient time to practice a new map,” Riot said.

After conferring with pro players globally, in the interest of competitive integrity, Breeze has been removed from the map rotation at Masters Reykjavik.

It was a risky decision to debut a new map at VALORANT’s first international gathering. The breeze was released on April 27 at the start of Episode Two, Act Three, leaving teams very little time to prepare and strategize for the new map. And, with certain teams still vying to qualify for Masters, that would place them at a significant disadvantage.

Players no longer have to worry about coming up with last-minute strats or getting pugged with no experience on the map now that Breeze is no longer a choice. Teams will now spend their time effectively planning for the event by learning more about the other regions and developing solid game plans.

Masters Reykjavik begins on May 24, with ten teams competing for a massive amount of circuit points that can secure their place in the championship later this year. Sentinels, Version1, Team Liquid, Fnatic, NUTURN, Crazy Raccoon, and X10 Esports have all eligible as of now. Two slots from Brazil and one from Latin America remain unfilled.
