On Tuesday, 100 Thieves continued to rebuild their VALORANT roster by releasing another former in-game leader, Nick “nitr0” Cannella, via transfer.

Nitr0 is rumoured to be leaving VALORANT less than a year after joining to return to Counter-Strike. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the former IGL for Team Liquid’s Counter-Strike team switched titles. Counter-Strike in North America was on the decline due to a lack of teams in the region capable of competing in tournaments. As a result, many high-profile players from the NA Counter-Strike scene switched to VALORANT.

Nitr0 Journey in 100 Thieves

nitr0 first joined 100 Thieves in August 2020 as part of the organization’s roster rebuild, reuniting with Spencer “Hiko” Martin for the first time since 2015, when the two competed together on Team Liquid’s CS:GO roster. Following the addition of three more former Counter-Strike players, 100 Thieves achieved success by winning First Strike: North America, establishing themselves as one of the favourites to achieve solid results in the VCT in 2021.

The team’s lone event victory in 2021 came in Stage 2 Challengers 1, but they also finished on the podium in five other events, including two second-place finishes. They also finished in the top four at Masters: Berlin, their lone LAN appearance.

Their finish at Masters: Berlin fell just short of direct qualification to Champions, so 100 Thieves had to compete in the NA LCQ to qualify. They finished third in a tournament where they needed to win to qualify, effectively ending their season.

Following their removal from the NA LCQ, the first indications of nitr0’s uncertain future in Valorant appeared in a report by Upcomer’s George Geddes. Later reports from neL of 1pv.fr and Professeur of HLTV painted his name alongside former teammate Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski on the next edition of Team Liquid’s CS:GO roster.

Substitute player Joshua “steel” Nissan was recently transferred to T1. nitr0’s departure from 100 Thieves marks the fourth roster change in two weeks.

100 Thieves Current Valorant Roster:

  •  Spencer “Hiko” Martin
  •  Ethan “Ethan” Arnold
  •  Peter “Asuna” Mazuryk
  •  Johann “seven” Hernandez (Substitute)
  •  Jovanni “Jovi” Vera (Analyst)
