PUBG Lite, the version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds designed for low-end computers, is no longer accessible. The developers of PUBG Lite revealed this week their decision to discontinue support for the title, stating that April 29th would officially mark the end of the game’s existence when service is terminated. Player Support will be discontinued at a later date, but the shutdown has already started with the closure of the PUBG Lite website.

The less challenging version of PUBG was released in 2019 as a workaround for those who wanted to play the battle royale game but did not have a computer capable of meeting the demands of the base game. It only needed a Core i3 2.4GHz CPU and an Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU, making it a viable choice for many, with the goal that the game would not lose much in terms of quality or gameplay in order to be more available.

The developers outlined the shutdown schedule and posted a parting note with players on the PUBG Lite website.

“We are deeply grateful for the passion and support from the astounding number of PUBG LITE fans that have been with us,” the site said. “During the strenuous times of the COVID-19 pandemic, we hope that PUBG LITE was able to provide our fans with a fun way to stay safe.

A month after the game’s closure on April 29th, player support will end on May 29th. For the time being, the developers have announced that players will be able to continue playing PUBG Lite as usual. This involves investing all in-game credits and L-COIN currency earned by players, at least until the game’s operation is terminated.

In terms of the PUBG games’ future, there is still the base PUBG game to play on consoles and PC, as well as PUBG Mobile, which is available on mobile devices. Krafton is also hard at work on PUBG New State, a new mobile game that will expand on the frameworks developed in PUBG Mobile to create a new experience.
