Astralis has been defeated by G2 Esports to the Danish CS: GO team today as its first event since Nicolai’s departure. G2 will take place at the DreamHack Master Spring semi-finals where Gambit, champions of the IEM Katowice, await you.

G2 defeated Astralis in three maps in the tournament’s first playoff game, with Nikola “NiKo” Kova standing out for his side, posting a 1.35 ranking. G2 defeated Train and Vertigo with 16-7 and 16-8 scores, respectively, and only Nuke was won by the Danes, who were led by Emil “Magisk” Reif and Lucas “Bubzkji” Andersen.

“It’s a great feeling, and it’s important for us to win a couple of games in a row,” Nemanja said. In the post-match interview, Kova said, “huNter-” about eliminating Astralis. “Now we must train for Gambit in order to exact our vengeance.” G2 lost 2-1 to Gambit in the group stage and will be hoping for a better showing against the No.1 team on Saturday.

Both teams are still experimenting with recent roster changes. G2 reassigned AWPer Kenny “kennyS” Schrub to the inactive roster in early March, reassigned Audric “JaCkz” Jug to the starting lineup, and reassigned NiKo to the AWP/rifler hybrid role. G2 have been playing well since Dot Esports spoke with NiKo at the BLAST Spring Showdown, demonstrating the consistency that their star player stated they needed.

Astralis are just a handful of series into the post-dev1ce era. They won a best-of-one against Extra Salt, beat Complexity 2-0, lost 2-0 to Heroic, and now have lost 2-1 to G2. Outside of their loss to Heroic, Lucas “Bubzkji” Andersen has been in terrific form since returning to the starting roster.
