According to an insider, more Call of Duty remasters are on the way. It’s surprising that there haven’t been more Call of Duty remasters already in this day and age. For years, Activision has bet big on the franchise, but there have only been two Call of Duty remasters.

The two remasters, ironically, are from the Modern Warfare trilogy, but the publisher has stated that it is not even working on a remaster for Modern Warfare 3, the final game in the saga. There is an unfinished remastered trilogy that may never see a modernised conclusion, but that doesn’t mean Activision is abandoning the remaster train altogether.

Activision is reportedly planning more Call of Duty remasters for next year, according to insider RalphsValve. According to RalphsValve, Activision is currently considering the games Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, and Call of Duty: World at War. It’s unclear whether this means the publisher will work to remaster all of them in a collection or just one. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered is also being considered for the Nintendo Switch. All of these potential remasters would be used to bridge the gap between new Call of Duty instalments. There will be no Call of Duty game next year, according to reports, but Activision has yet to confirm this.

Activision is also planning to release Call of Duty: Warzone 2 next year, but no specific date has been set. A sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to be released this year, with more details to be revealed this summer. There’s a lot going on, between Activision’s rumoured delay of next year’s entry and the impending completion of Microsoft’s acquisition of the publisher. It remains to be seen whether this is all for the better.
