Battlefield 2042 is only a few weeks away from release, and developer DICE has revealed a brand-new multiplayer map to whet fans’ appetites. The Discarded map, set in Alang, India, appears to be a very unique location filled with interesting points of interest. There’s a massive ship in disarray, a flooded village, ziplines, and what DICE describes as a “good mix of air, vehicle, and infantry combat.” Along with the announcement, DICE released a short teaser that gives players a taste of what to expect when they play Discarded.

While the Battlefield franchise has a loyal following, it will be interesting to see how players react to the game when it is released. Reactions to the above Tweet were mixed, with some praising what was on display and others expressing concern that not enough is being shown so close to the release date.

There are also concerns that Battlefield 2042 is attempting to emulate the Call of Duty franchise rather than sticking to the elements that made the series successful in the first place. This could be seen as fans argued about the role of Specialists in the new game once more.

Since their announcement, the role of Specialists in Battlefield 2042 has sparked a great deal of debate. The Operators from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare have been heavily compared to Specialists. Indeed, according to a report from industry insider Tom Henderson last month, their inclusion in the game was one of several attempts by management to bring the game more in line with Activision’s shooter. It’s impossible to predict how the game will play out, but fans won’t have to wait long to find out!

Battlefield 2042 will be available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on November 19th.
