Astralis Dev1ce Joins NIP In A Shocking Transfer Nobody Expected

NIP has announced the surprise signing of Nicolai “device” Reedtz from Astralis on a permanent basis. The four-time Major champion has agreed to a three-year deal with the Swedish club, taking over for Tim “nawwk” Jonasson, who has been made available for move.

dev1ce was a founding member of Astralis, an organization established in January 2016. Between 2018 and 2020, he led the team to a new period of domination, winning numerous foreign titles, including three back-to-back Major titles to add to the ELEAGUE Major Atlanta 2017 trophy.

His departure comes less than two weeks after he stated that some changes in the Astralis camp were to be expected following the team’s difficult start to the year. It also marks the end of his long relationship with Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen and Andreas “Xyp9x” Hjsleth, his teammates since 2013.

“Leaving Astralis is difficult, to say the least,” the system admitted. “The boys will always be like family to me, but the Covid period has left me wondering; where do I see myself when everything returns to normal.

“I’ve been living in Sweden for a while now, speaking the language, and I’m very excited about this new and exciting NIP project. It encourages me to be a part of one of the most influential organisations, where so many legends have played. Just look at what LeBron James has accomplished with the Lakers, and with the Major in Stockholm coming up, taking it home to Sweden is my top priority.”

NIP’s first appearance in Flashpoint 3, the year’s first Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournament, will be a baptism of fire for him. Astralis has revealed that Lucas “Bubzkji” Andersen will be the team’s fifth player in next week’s DreamHack Masters Spring.

Astralis have given Farewell to Dev1ce.
