Apex Legends Data Miners Hinted Big Update Coming Soon In The Game

According to an Apex Legends dataminer, a contentious feature is in the works and could be released in the near future. Respawn Entertainment continues to support Apex Legends, but it moves slowly in comparison to some of its competitors. This means that additions and changes requested by players can take a long time to make their way into the game. To that end, players – or at least some of them – have petitioned Respawn to increase the player count, ostensibly to improve matchmaking.

The information comes from Apex Legends dataminer Garret Leaks, who reveals that Respawn has increased the size of lobbies by 20, or from 80 to 100 players, according to the game’s files. However, this has only been done for private matches. What exactly does this mean? Respawn appears to be experimenting with increasing lobby size; however, it’s possible that the results of this experimentation will only affect private matches.

Of course, Respawn has previously stated that increasing the size of lobbies would have a negative impact on servers and the game’s balance. The game’s maps were not created with 90 or 100 players in mind. Furthermore, while many players have requested an increase in lobby size, many do not want this to happen. Having said that, it appears that it is finally going to happen, though it may be limited.

At the time of publication, neither EA nor Respawn had responded to any of this. We don’t expect the pair to comment on datamining discoveries or the speculation they generate, so we don’t expect this to change, but if it does, we’ll make sure to update the storey.
