DWG KIA Qualifies for Worlds 2021 Quarter Finals after Defeating FPP
By: Hypron || Oct 15, 2021
DWG KIA qualified for the Worlds 2021 quarterfinals after winning four of four games in the group stage. The LCK champions clinched their place in the tournament with a commanding victory over China’s FunPlus Phoenix. Despite the fact that the series was much closer than the previous one, DK took control of the mid-game and left no room for an FPX comeback. While FPX attempted to break in with Kim “Doinb” Tae-Irelia, sang’s DK’s Poppy and TwistedFate combo proved too powerful.
DWG’s victory guarantees them a spot in the Worlds 2021 quarterfinals. They will, however, have to wait to find out where they finish in the group.
DWG entered Worlds as a tournament favourite, with many predicting either them or FPX to win Group A. Their double win over FPX, on the other hand, establishes them as clear favourites to finish first in their group. DK has had more one-sided games than most teams at Worlds 2021 so far. Despite a shaky start against C9, they quickly turned that match around.

DWG’s map read and macro plays are also among the best seen so far at Worlds 2021. They compensate for their lack of a proactive bot lane with aggressive top, mid, and jungle play.
DWG’s Heo “ShowMaker” Su has yet to be killed since the start of the Worlds 2021 group stage. On the Twisted Fate, he finished the game against FPX with a 3/0/9 Kill/Death/Assist ratio.
With a 17/0/30 KDA after four games in the group stage, the Korean mid laner is undefeated. With only two games remaining, ShowMaker has a chance to finish the group stage undefeated.
DWG will now focus on finishing first in groups after qualifying for the quarterfinals.
